Your God Will Not Help You!

Updated: Dec 17, 2021

Catching up with my marketing team over some nice chicken rice and rojak, we shared many stories among us. We all had a look laugh at each of them, and I was also very honoured because I was given a personal diary with my name engraved on it.

We talk about our good old school days, and it is apparent that I am many years their senior because they no longer used chalk and duster in their secondary school days. Do you recall the days when the Teachers come into the class for the first time and introduce themselves? They will write their name on the blackboard. So typical of a new teacher.

We all talk about the many usages of chalk and duster. We all remembered the flying chalk and the accuracy of the duster locating once head. I think part of the training to become a teacher is throwing chalk and duster. All teachers are marksmen.

There was one incident Dustin recalled, and we had such a good laugh, and I want to share with all my readers.

Dustin and his classmate, Ravi are separated by the aisle. Ravi was so proud to show off his God that he wants to show Dustin his wallet where he has a photo of his God, Lord Ganesha. He opened his wallet and lean over to Dustin’s side and introduce him the powerful, Lord Ganesha.

Lord Ganesha is easily recognisable from his elephant head and a human body, widely revered as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences and the deva of intellect and wisdom.

Ten seconds into their conversation and Dustin made acquaintance with Lord Ganesha; Ravi shouted. Ow! A duster just hit Ravi’s head, and it was from the Teacher. Ravi and Dustin are talking in class, and the Teacher does what all decent good Teacher does in the ’80s; sent a duster missile to break up their communication.

This lesson taught us, when you are doing a wrongful act, do not expect your God to help you. You do not pray before stealing from the supermarket or do a crime, hoping that your God will help you get away. It just does not work like that. Your ethics and morals shall determine you will be blessed or not? Not your devotion.

Quote of the day:

God may not be with you all the time; our moral conscience is.
